RHODE ISLAND
The Biggest Little State in the Union
with the longest name, that’s right. The official
name of the state is as follows.
RHODE ISLAND and
PROVIDENCE PLANTATIONS
One of the original thirteen colonies founded
by Roger Williams back in 1638. The last of the
thirteen colonies to join the union. You might say
we wanted to keep our independence and did
for the most part.
Rhode Island State House
The official Rhode Island License Plate.
I claim fame to the Wave Design as I was
the one who designed that. Unfortunately at
the time I was a kid. The Providence Journal
newspaper had a weekly contest. A Reader
could have their own Political Cartoon put
in the paper and they would send you a
check for $25.00, hey at age sixteen
this was some good money!
I created a cartoon of the license plate
with this wave design and a slogan that
said catch a crime wave. The topic was
the RISDIC fiasco from the 1980’s.
Well, I am glad someone liked my
idea and put it to good use.
This was a custom plate auctioned after Rocky Point Park
closed. Click the link for Rocky Point to read about America’s
second oldest amusement park. Sad the park is gone now.
It was here in Rhode Island where most of this nation’s foundation
was set. Religeous Freedom first started here in Rhode Island with the
founder, Roger Williams. The First Baptist Church in America was built
here and is still here today. In fact there was a short time when Catholics
were not allowed in the colony as they were trying to carry on the same
tradition of governance here. It was here in Rhode Island where
seperation of Church and State was born.
I found a wealth of historical information on the net.
This is by far one of the best historical accounts of Rhode Island.

My Love for History and just wanting to know who was here
before us. I’ve sort of become an Explorer myself. Rhode Island is
an awesome historical site as is most of New England. I was blessed to
have lived there and to have had the opportunity to explore our region.
I left Rhode Island in the Spring of 1992 simply because the harsh
Winter climate was getting to be too much for me. Of course I
chose another extreme... The arrid desert of Arizona...
But, my body thrives in this heat down here.
RHODE ISLAND HISTORY
The First Baptist Church in America, Providence, R.I.
Founded by Roger Williams in 1638.
The First Baptist Church in America. The first meeting house shown here
was built in 1774 and is still in use today. This is the original church
building still here after all these years. Still standing after war
and decades of harsh New England weather including
major hurricanes and blizzards.
75 North Main Street
Providence, Rhode Island.
Imagine attending service
in a church that was here
before we became
a nation...
The Rhode Island School of Design.
Myself being an Artist and craving a career as an Architect, this was my school of
choice. I almost had the dream till it was taken away in 1982. If I had only been about
four years older and got into this school four years earlier the dream would have been all
mine. Unfortunately funding which was pre-approved and there to assist me was taken
away by Reaganomics. Well, this is one of many acts that helped this Independent
make the choice. I am a Moderate Democrat and damn proud of it !!
“ BROWN EGGS ARE
LOCAL EGGS AND LOCAL
EGGS ARE FRESH ! “
The jingle above comes from
an old TV ad for a local farm.
Brown Eggs are local as they
come from the
